Safety for Senior Management

*PREVIOUSLY KNOWN AS PRINCIPLES OF SAFETY AND HEALTH MANAGEMENT

Description +*Please note this course is a prerequisite for our Maintenance Auditor course (previously known as Internal Auditor).

Geared towards Senior Managers, this course is intended as a high-level “executive summary” of the organization’s health and safety responsibilities, and the SAFE Work Certified program. The SAFE Work Certified audit elements will be reviewed and assessed against their own health and safety program. This will provide them with an action plan to bring back to their workplace for implementation. The course is comprised of group discussions and a graded test.

Maintenance Auditor

*PREVIOUSLY KNOWN AS INTERNAL AUDITOR

Description +*Please note: This course has a prerequisite: Safety for Senior Management (previously Principles of Safety & Health Management).

This course is designed for the individual in organization who will be conducting the annual maintenance audits. Participants will learn about auditing techniques, the SAFE work certified audit process, industry specific element N, and how to effectively use the audit tool. This course may be completed before or after the organizations certifying audit, but S2SA recommends it be taken before. The course is comprised of group discussions, a graded test, and a final assignment. This assignment is the completion of a mock audit that must be submitted to S2SA before a certificate and Maintenance Auditor number is awarded. Please allot an additional 4 hours outside of the course time for assignment completion.

Bundled: Maintenance Auditor & Safety for Senior Management

*This course combines the Safety for Senior Management and Maintenance Auditor courses.

Description +Safety for Senior Management is a pre-requisite to taking the Maintenance Auditor course. The person at your organization who will be conducting your internal maintenance audits will need to take both of the courses taught in this blended class. S2SA recommends it be taken early so you can prepare for your audit. This blended course runs from 8:30am to 4:30pm on both March 9th and March 10th.

Upon completion of the course, both the Safety for Senior Management and Maintenance Auditor certificates will be awarded.

Safety for Middle Management

*PREVIOUSLY KNOWN AS LEADERSHIP FOR SAFETY EXCELLENCE

Description +This course is designed for Team Leaders, Supervisors, and Managers to assist them with building health and safety into their daily supervisory duties. Participants will learn about health and safety responsibilities, legislation, workplace inspections, incident reporting and investigation, and health and safety training. There will be an emphasis on building effective communication skills and a positive health and safety culture. The course is comprised of group discussions and a graded test.

Safety for Committees & Representatives

*PREVIOUSLY KNOWN AS SAFETY & HEALTH COMMITTEE/REPRESENTATIVE BASICS

Description +This course is designed for health and safety committee members, worker safety representatives, or both. Participants will learn about committee and worker representative duties and responsibilities, how to conduct a committee meeting, hazard identification, hazard assessment and control, inspections, incident reporting and investigation, and what role the committee or worker representative plays in the SAFE work certified process. We recommend sending the entire committee, but at a minimum, all co-chairs. The course is comprised of group discussions and a graded test.

We also recommend your committee takeHazards in the Workplace, previously Hazard Identification and Risk Control.

Hazards in the Workplace

*PREVIOUSLY KNOWN AS HAZARD IDENTIFICATION AND RISK CONTROL

Description +This course discusses the entire hazard assessment process from hazard identification to Safe Work Procedures. It will assist you in developing Risk Assessments through a Critical Job Inventory, Job Hazard Analysis and Safe Work Procedures.

Health & Safety Committee Training

*This course combines the Safety for Committees & Representatives and Hazards In The Workplace courses. Participants who complete the Health & Safety Committee Training course will be recognized as completing both.

Description +Anyone can benefit from this course, but the main audience is your company’s safety committee or representative. We suggest sending your whole committee, but at a minimum, your co-chairs.

Description +This course is designed for investigation teams including managers, supervisors, and safety committee members to assist them in conducting incident investigations.

Safety Development Program

Description +The Instructor-Led Path is our Safety Development Program fast track, well-suited for help your workplace prepare for SAFE Work Certification. Participants will work with an instructor in this classroom-style webinar series, with regular check-ins, goals, and assignments, that help protect against employee turnover and other potential setbacks. After registering, classes will occur on the second Tuesday of each month for twelve months. By completing these classes and the work associated, participants will be well on their way to certification. Register today!

A Hazard is a Hazard – Helping Workplaces Become Psychologically Healthy and Safe

Description +Workplace health and safety includes identifying and addressing hazards that can cause mental injury. Learn more about the CSA National Standard for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace, raise your awareness of workplace mental health concerns, identify common psychological hazards and learn how to roll psychological considerations into your health and safety program.

This course is offered monthly by the Canadian Mental Health Association Manitoba and Winnipeg (CMHA). $150 plus tax.
